Gregory H. Dorn, MD, MPH
President and CEO
Gregory Dorn, MD, MPH is president and CEO of First Databank. During his tenure, FDB has launched two new solutions, FDB AlertSpace™ and FDB OrderKnowledge™, and new services focused on accelerating the adoption and clinical outcomes of electronic medical records and computerized provider order entry systems. Under Dorn's leadership, FDB is helping drive market acceptance of acquisition cost pricing as a benchmark for pharmaceutical reimbursement following the company's decision to terminate publishing Average Wholesale Price. These initiatives have expanded the company's market share and helped to achieve record revenue and earnings results.
Prior to joining FDB in 2010, Dorn served at Zynx Health for 11 years as executive vice president, chief operating officer and president of its international efforts. During his tenure, Dorn helped guide the organization through changes of ownership and expanded the reach of the company’s solutions from less than 50 hospitals to more than 1,700. His major focus was on the commercialization and international expansion of evidence-based point of care clinical decision support deployed through computerized provider order entry systems, electronic medical record applications and medical devices.
Dorn holds a bachelor's degree from the Columbia University School of Engineering and received his medical doctorate from the College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University. Dorn served as house officer at UCLA Medical Center after which he went on to obtain a master's in health services from the UCLA Center for Health Services Management. He is a co-inventor of two patented healthcare software technologies.
Patrick Lupinetti, JD
Senior Vice President and Editorial Director
Patrick Lupinetti serves as senior vice president and editorial director for the company’s Knowledge Base Services Department, where he has responsibility for drug descriptive data acquisition, government pricing, data structure and clinical content for all of First DataBank’s product modules. Lupinetti joined First DataBank in 2008 from the Office of the New York State Attorney General's Medicaid Fraud Control Unit where he served for 21 years and was the initial Director of the Unit's Special Projects Division. In that capacity, he had responsibility for the identification and investigation of systemic Medicaid overbillings, with a particular focus on institutional and cost-based providers, and served on numerous national teams conducting pharmaceutical pricing and marketing investigations. Lupinetti is a graduate of the Columbia University School of Law and was admitted to the New York State Bar in February, 1980. He received a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from West Virginia University where he graduated magna cum laude, was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and a Rhodes Scholar Finalist.
Tom Bizzaro, RPh
Vice President, Health Policy and Industry Relations
Tom Bizzaro, RPh, is vice president, health policy and industry relations for First DataBank where he has responsibility for proactively monitoring all healthcare policy issues and proposals emanating from both the federal and state governments as well as participating in health policy initiatives related to the use of electronic drug information. Bizzaro is actively involved in various health informatics standards setting activities for interoperability and participates in the development of common drug language standards. Bizzaro has more than 20 years of experience in retail pharmacy and retail pharmacy management. Prior to joining First DataBank, he was regional pharmacy supervisor for HMO Health Ohio, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Ohio where he was responsible for operations, pharmaceutical contracting, and formulary management for HMO Health Ohio’s staff model pharmacies. Bizzaro has been a member of the National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) since 1996 and is past Co-Chair of Work Group 2 Product Identification (WG2). In February 2005 Tom was elected to the NCPDP Board of Trustees. Bizzaro received a BS degree in Pharmacy from Temple University.
Marck DuBois
Vice President, National Accounts
As First DataBank’s vice president of national accounts, Marck DuBois is responsible for managing the corporate relationships and direct sales efforts of several of First DataBank’s largest and fastest growing accounts, many of which are poised to benefit from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act’s HITECH incentives. A healthcare information systems industry veteran, DuBois has been with First DataBank for more than a decade, in sales and more recently as vice president of customer relations. Prior to joining First DataBank, DuBois was director of business development for Zynx Health, a Hearst Business Media sister company and a leading provider of evidence-based clinical decision support. Earlier in his career, DuBois was director of sales for Wolters Kluwer Health. DuBois received a B.S. degree in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University.
Bob Katter
Vice President, Sales and Customer Relations
As vice president of sales and customer relations, Bob Katter leads all customer-facing functions including sales, implementation, service, renewals and communications, with the goal of delivering a consistently high-quality experience to First DataBank’s customers. A veteran healthcare industry executive, Katter joined First DataBank from McKesson Corporation’s RelayHealth division, where he most recently served as vice president, strategy and business development. Katter has more than 15 years’ experience leading companies in the healthcare technology and services industries and has been instrumental in developing and bringing to market emerging technologies including electronic health records and health information exchange. Earlier in his career, Katter served as Vice President of Business Development at MedicaLogic/Medscape, a provider of digital health records and online health information and at Vivra Specialty Partners, a physician practice management company, in operations and business development roles. Katter earned an MBA degree from Yale University and a BA degree in Chemistry from St. Olaf College.
Tracy Lofland
Vice President, Quality Management
Tracy Lofland currently serves as vice president of quality management, a position she has held since 2007. In this role, Lofland leads teams responsible for quality improvement programs and initiatives as well as clinical patient safety, database, software and applications test development. First DataBank quality teams continuously evaluate ways to error-proof our database products, evaluating root cause analysis, issue resolution and corrective actions. Lofland was instrumental in establishing the quality management department and in bringing software automation tools to First DataBank. Lofland has an extensive background in quality management and testing and has held a variety of positions during her 20–plus year tenure with First DataBank. Lofland has achieved a Sig Sigma Green Belt certification and has been a certified quality auditor for ISO9000 Malcom Baldridge quality standards. Lofland is a graduate of Indiana Wesleyan University and the Philip Crosby Quality College.
Karl Matuszewski, MS, PharmD

Karl Matuszewski, MS, PharmD, serves as vice president of clinical and editorial knowledge base services. In this executive leadership role, Dr. Matuszewski guides editorial policy development for the creation and maintenance of the company’s knowledge base and disease decision support products and all related clinical modules. A clinician with deep clinical expertise and knowledge of drug informatics, Matuszewski works to ensure that the clinical content published by First DataBank continues to evolve to support the company’s vision through innovative solutions. Matuszewski joins First DataBank from Gold Standard/Elsevier, where he was vice president and editor-in-chief. As the senior clinical drug informatics content officer, he led the clinical editorial team to develop, produce, and maintain various drug and toxicology database products. Earlier in his career, Matuszewski was senior director of the University HealthSystem Consortium’s (UHC) Clinical Knowledge Service, where he was responsible for the development and direction of all technology assessment efforts. Dr. Matuszewski has published numerous articles related to the appropriate and efficient use of drugs and devices and was a consultant for the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association's Technology Evaluation and Coverage Program, which assesses medical technologies for national coverage and payment guidelines. Matuszewski received Bachelor of Science and Doctor of Pharmacy degrees from the University of Illinois. Additionally, he obtained a Master of Science degree in Health Systems Management from Rush University, where he holds a faculty appointment as an associate professor.
Jim Schultz, CPA
Vice President, Finance and Operations
General Manager, Indianapolis
Jim Schultz is First DataBank’s vice president, finance and operations, a position he has held since 2002. Schultz also serves in a dual role as General Manager of First DataBank’s Indianapolis office. He holds responsibility for all of the company’s financial operations, including accounting, budgeting, contract administration and renewals. Schultz also leads teams responsible for the analysis and stabilization of core business processes, project and quality management, and the Corporate Transformation Initiative, which focuses on ensuring ongoing results are delivered through continuous improvement. Schultz has a long tenure with First DataBank, having joined the company in 1998 as director of finance. Prior to joining First DataBank, he was director of finance for Medi-Span, a Wolters Kluwer Company, and earlier in his career, he directed accounting and operations management for Raffensperger, Hughes & Company, an Indiana-based brokerage and investment-banking firm. Schultz is a certified public account (CPA) and received a bachelor’s degree in accounting from Indiana University.
Dave Stephens
Vice President, Information Technology
Dave Stephens is vice president, information technology where he leads teams that manage First DataBank’s infrastructure management, media production and delivery, systems and software products development—supporting more than 1,300 customers worldwide. Stephens joined First DataBank in 1998 after a decade-plus career with Electronic Data Systems (EDS), a global information technology and services company, now HP Enterprise Services, part of technology giant Hewlett-Packard. While at EDS, he held several management positions directing more than $50 million dollars in outsourcing business engagements, ranging from large scale system development projects to the installation and maintenance of campus and wide area networks. Stephens began his career in information technology with General Motors. He holds a BS in computer science from Ball State University.
Charles Tuchinda, MD, MBA

As the newest member of the Hearst Business Media Healthcare team and vice president of innovation at First DataBank, Chuck Tuchinda is responsible for leading initiatives around new business. In this role, he oversees market research and competitive intelligence initiatives and innovations for the overall healthcare, medical and pharmaceutical businesses for Hearst Business Media. Tuchinda has considerable experience launching new business lines, managing partners, and creating new businesses in healthcare. Prior to joining Hearst and First DataBank, he was the vice president of business development and product strategy at Eclipsys, an enterprise health IT solutions provider. At Eclipsys, he led acquisitions, forged key partnerships, and shaped the company’s product roadmap. Prior to Eclipsys, Tuchinda founded a healthcare messaging business and a radiology information system software business. Tuchinda is licensed and board certified in internal medicine. He completed his residency training at Johns Hopkins Hospital, received his Masters of Business Administration from Harvard Business School, his Medical Doctorate from Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, and a biomedical engineering degree from Harvard College.
Patrick Zvara, MS
Senior Director, Human Resources
Patrick Zvara serves in a dual role as senior director of human resources for both First Databank and Zynx Health where he is primarily focused on recruiting top talent and enhancing the positive company culture. Prior to joining both companies, Zvara held human resource leadership positions with Express Scripts, the Human Services Department and the District Attorney’s office of the County of San Diego. Earlier in his career, he held community service roles with city and federal agencies in the state of Arizona. Zavara holds an MS degree in Industrial Organizational Psychology from San Diego State University and a BA degree in Psychology from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
