The National Council for Prescription Drug Programs (NCPDP) presented one of its most prestigious awards – The Individual Member Excellence (TIME) Award – to Tom Bizzaro, First DataBank’s vice president of sales and marketing, during its Annual Conference in May 2007 in Scottsdale, Arizona.

The TIME Award was first established in 1990 and honors an NCPDP member for unselfish devotion toward meeting the goals and objectives of the organization. The award presentation was made during the President's Dinner at the Annual Conference. NCPDP celebrated its 30th Anniversary this year.

Bizzaro has been an NCPDP member for many years and currently serves on the Board of Trustees. According to Don Nielsen, M.D., president of First DataBank, "Tom’s dedication and hard work with NCPDP has been pivotal in helping their organization grow into one of the most important and influential organizations in the healthcare industry."

NCPDP's work in providing guidance, practical knowledge, and solutions for improving the electronic communication of healthcare information has been vital in promoting patient safety. NCPDP has been named in federal legislation, including HIPAA and the MMA. NCPDP members have created standards such as the Telecommunication Standard and Batch Standard, the SCRIPT Standard for e-Prescribing, the Manufacturers Rebate Standard and more to improve communication within the pharmacy industry.
